Air conditioner Wi-Fi: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and router settings

The Wi-Fi adapters supported by MyAirco use 2.4 GHz. Learn what that means for a dual-band router, your phone and the network settings used during setup.

The Wi-Fi adapters supported by MyAirco connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. They cannot join a network that only offers 5 GHz. Your phone can still use 5 GHz for everyday MyAirco control if both bands connect to the same home network and devices are allowed to communicate.

One network name can cover two bands

A router may advertise the same Wi-Fi name on several frequencies. Seeing only one name does not mean that 2.4 GHz is missing. Check the router’s wireless settings before creating a second network or switching features off.

Google’s explanation of Nest Wi-Fi bands is a useful example: devices use bands they support. The frequency used by the phone does not change the radio inside the airco.

Check the network before pairing

  1. Enable 2.4 GHzLook in the router or mesh app. A network restricted to 5 or 6 GHz will not work for these adapters.
  2. Use supported securityCheck your module’s guide. The Wi-Fi adapter guide lists WPA/WPA2; do not assume a WPA3-only network will accept it. Use a compatible protected network, not an open network.
  3. Check the name and passwordEnter the router’s Wi-Fi password. The KEY on the airco label belongs to the module’s temporary setup network.
  4. Check that devices can reach each otherA guest or isolated network can prevent MyAirco from reaching the module even after pairing succeeds.

The official Wi-Fi adapter guide describes the wireless requirements. The exact controls in your router app depend on its model.

If setup still fails

If your router provides a temporary IoT onboarding mode, follow its instructions and retry the setup. Change one setting at a time and note what you changed. Avoid resetting the whole router for a single device.

After pairing, return the phone to your normal home Wi-Fi and test one command. If the airco appears in the router’s device list but not in MyAirco, move to the discovery checks. If it never joins the router, follow the connection guide again with the network details ready.
